Doyle Hose Co. #1 in Cheektowaga NY hopes this billboard will generate new firefighters for the volunteer fire company.
“Life’s an adventure.” That’s the message that Doyle 1 Volunteer Firefighters, EMTs and Rescuers are sending in a new effort to encourage more citizens to become part of emergency services in Cheektowaga, NY.
Their goal is to motivate their residents to “start their next adventure” at Doyle 1 Fire/Rescue/EMS. Armed with posters, billboards and other marketing materials, Doyle 1 is promoting the many volunteering opportunities they offer. The outdoor advertising campaign kicked off in late November.
“There’s plenty for everyone to do on or off the scene,” says Rich Nowak, Doyle 1’s assistant fire chief and a member of the fire company’s recruitment team. We offer flexible opportunities for people to get involved in firefighting or just emergency medical services – for those who don’t want to run into burning buildings. From there, we supplement those core services with hazardous materials responses, water rescue, traffic control, fire prevention and life safety education and other specialized services.
The recruitment theme and marketing materials were designed by Tiger Schmittendorf as a service of the Erie County Department of Emergency Services and paid for by a grant from the US Department of Homeland Security specifically for the recruitment and retention project.
“We have a lot of great people here at Doyle 1 and we’re always looking for more just like them. Volunteer fire and emergency services present a wide range of exciting opportunities to get involved in the community. We offer a fast paced environment with unmatched rewards in terms of new experiences and personal satisfaction. It is the best job in the world and we do it for free,” said Chip Schnurstein, fire chief at Doyle Hose Co. #1.
Anyone interested in learning more about volunteering with Doyle 1 should call their recruitment hotline at: 716-200-0879 or visit the fire company web site at: www.doylefire.org.
