On Tuesday, September 18, the members of the Audubon and Mount Ephraim Fire Departments, met once again at the Audubon Applebee's. This time it wasn't to participate in their Dining To Donate program, it was to receive a check for $511.00 that the Audubon Applebee's was presenting to the Sylvester & West Memorial Monument Fund, currently being constructed on Kings Highway in Mount Ephraim.

The event which was held on September 5 at the Audubon Applebee's was a great success thanks to the many participants who showed up through-out the day to raise money for this nobel cause.

The Audubon Fire Department came up with the idea and contacted Applebee's to see if this would be an event that they could undertake. The Audubon Applebee's gave the AFD an enthusiastic thumbs up for the project and was interested in helping in any way that they could.

Members from both departments received fliers that announced the fund raising event to distribute throughout both communities. Patrons then had to present the flier to their server to receive the 10 percent of their total bill to donate to the monument fund.

Mount Ephraim Firefighter Julian D'Alonzo said "Thanks to the Audubon Fire Department, the Jim Sylvester & John West Memorial Monument is one step closer to their goal." Firefighter D'Alonzo was present on the night when both departments were on hand with fire truck displays and fire prevention items for the kids.

Audubon Fire Department Assistant Chief Anthony said "This was a great way for our community's to come together to help with the finances of this project." "We are hoping that the Dining To Donate that we will be holding after the new year will be an even bigger and better event."
